How it works

From CGMA to CA(SA) via the APC

Under the signed CIMA-to-SAICA pathway, CGMA members don't restart the qualification. Instead, you complete the two final steps SAICA requires of every CA(SA) candidate: an accredited professional (board) course, followed by SAICA's final qualifying exam, the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Step 1 — Complete an accredited board course

To be eligible to sit the APC, you must first complete a recognised professional programme (board course). The accredited providers include APT, the UCT board course, and Endunamo. You register and complete the board course with one of these providers and pass it to unlock your APC entry.

Step 2 — Sit and pass the APC

The APC is SAICA's capstone case-study assessment of professional competence. Passing it, together with meeting SAICA's experience requirements, earns you the CA(SA) designation.
